From the street this elegant home is a fairly simple design with straight wooden boards for external cladding. The wooden cladding dramatically changes the look of this shipping container home which uses 10 high cube 20ft shipping containers.
The 6m x 6m garage at the entrance makes for easy parking and would be easy to add a living roof over the top of the garage, by having the garage at the front you are able to maximise the outdoor living space at the back of the eco home.
Access to the ground level is through an internal door inside the garage or an external door beside the garage. As we walk into the eco home there is a 2.4m x 3m Laundry/Bathroom to the right, the ground level bedroom in front of us and a large open kitchen to the left.
Walking through the huge 4.8m x 6m kitchen, we look into the bedroom (4.8m x 3m) through the entrance under the stairs, as we continue walking through the kitchen we enter the 4.8m x 6m lounge room with glass sliding doors out onto the patio.
The patio is a great spot for the BBQ as it is semi sheltered from the wind yet open for the smoke to drift away easily.
Walking back inside and up the stairs to the first floor the first room we enter is a study area of 3.6m x 3m which comfortably fits a desk and bookshelf and is big enough for up to 3 desks.
